Oh No! My Air Conditioner Is Blowing Warm Air!

We understand how alarming this situation may be, but we urge you not to panic. First of all, we are never more than a phone call away, so you know that you can always get outstanding air conditioning repairs in Mesa, AZ when necessary. Secondly, there is a good chance that this problem can actually be resolved pretty simply.

Read on to learn about some potential causes of warm air blowing from your home cooling system. You may just find that there is a pretty obvious solution. If not, that’s what we’re here for: getting your system back on track promptly.

Dirty air filters could be to blame, which just further goes to show how vital it is that you are diligent in changing your air filters as needed. How on earth could an air filter lead to warm air coming from an AC, you may be wondering? Well, it isn’t the filter directly warming the air, but rather the effect that it has on the system as a whole. With reduced air flow, the evaporator coil will struggle to draw enough heat out of the air surrounding it. It can then grow too cold, causing condensation to freeze on it. This insulates the coil, further impeding the heat absorption process.

Refrigerant leaks could also lead to the icing of the evaporator coil, and with the same result: warm air blowing from your system. It’s important to note, though, that even if ice does not develop, an insufficient amount of refrigerant in your system can lead to reduced cooling output regardless. The refrigerant in your system acts as the heat transfer fluid, after all. If there is not enough of it, it won’t remove enough heat from the air for you to live comfortably.

Finally, and this may sound obvious, but be sure to check your thermostat before deciding that you need a professional’s services. You may have simply switched the thermostat over to a fan-only mode or, if using a heat pump, the heating mode. The temperature may also have just been set too high. If there is no obvious cause, though, you may have a malfunctioning thermostat, which will require professional repairs or replacement. Contact us when you run into AC problems.
